Physical therapy organised around your goal, not a menu of techniques

Care at Precision Performance Physio begins with an evaluation. What happens after that is chosen for what the evaluation finds and what you are trying to get back to.

Area of focus 01

Orthopedic physical therapy

For joint, muscle, and tendon problems that have started dictating what you do with your day.

A shoulder that stops you reaching overhead. A knee that has opinions about stairs. A back that flares whenever you pick something up. Pain that has outlasted rest, ice, and waiting to see whether it settles.

Who it may suit

  • Adults with a joint or soft-tissue problem affecting daily movement
  • People whose symptoms have not resolved on their own
  • Anyone who has been told to “rest it” and wants a more specific plan

What a visit may involve

An evaluation covers your history, how the problem behaves, and how you move. Amy tests what the findings call for, including range, strength, control, and the specific tasks that provoke your symptoms, and then explains what she sees. Ongoing visits typically combine hands-on work with exercise that is progressed and retested rather than repeated.

The specific approaches used in your care are determined at your evaluation. Nothing on this page is a diagnosis or a treatment recommendation for any individual.

Area of focus 02

Sports physical therapy

For athletes whose plan needs to end somewhere specific: a season, a race, a lift, a position on a field.

Sports rehabilitation is not general rehabilitation with a jersey on. The speeds, the loads, the positions, and the repetitions of the sport belong in the plan from the beginning, not as an afterthought once symptoms settle.

Who it may suit

  • Competitive and recreational athletes at any level
  • Student athletes and the parents helping them navigate an injury
  • Adults returning to training after time away
  • Anyone who wants a return-to-activity decision based on testing, not a calendar

What a visit may involve

After the evaluation, care is built around the movements your sport asks for. That usually means graded exposure to the positions and loads involved, progression criteria you can both see, and honest conversation about where you are relative to where you need to be.

Return-to-sport decisions are individual and depend on your findings, your history, and the guidance of your wider care team. No timeline or outcome is promised.

Area of focus 03

Strength-informed rehabilitation

For the gap between “cleared” and “confident”, the part of recovery most plans hand back to you unfinished.

Plenty of people finish physical therapy without pain and still do not trust the joint. Strength-informed rehabilitation treats that gap as part of the plan: loading that progresses on purpose, in the positions and ranges your goal requires, with the reasoning explained so you can keep going once you are discharged.

Who it may suit

  • People who feel better but not ready
  • Lifters, runners, and class-based athletes rebuilding after a setback
  • Anyone who wants to understand how to keep progressing on their own

What a visit may involve

Coaching under load in the gym space, with attention to positions, tempo, and the amount of work your tissue is being asked to absorb. You should leave each visit knowing what you are doing between sessions and what would tell you to adjust it.

This is physical therapy, provided under Amy’s Virginia physical therapy licence. It is not a substitute for medical evaluation, and it is not personal training marketed as rehabilitation.

Good to know

When physical therapy is not the right first step

Physical therapy has a scope. If your evaluation suggests a problem that needs imaging, medical management, or a specialist opinion, Amy will tell you and point you toward the right care. Referring on when it is warranted is part of the job, not a failure of it.

Seek emergency care immediately for chest pain, sudden severe weakness or numbness, loss of bladder or bowel control, a suspected fracture or dislocation, or any injury with obvious deformity. In an emergency, call 911. This website is not monitored for emergencies.
