What to expect, start to finish

Booking a first physical therapy appointment is easier when you know what is going to happen. Here is the whole sequence, plainly.

The sequence

From booking to your plan

Book online

Choose your appointment through the secure booking portal. It shows the appointment types currently offered and real availability.

Confirm the details

You will get a confirmation from the booking system, along with anything Amy needs from you before the visit, such as intake paperwork.

Come in for the evaluation

Your first visit is an evaluation. History, movement, testing, findings, and a plan you understand.

Work the plan

Follow-up visits progress the plan and retest it. If something is not changing, the plan changes.

Your first visit

What actually happens in the room

The evaluation is a conversation as much as an examination. Amy will ask what brought you in, what the problem stops you doing, what you have already tried, and what you want to get back to. Then she will watch you move and test what those answers point at.

At the end she will tell you what she found, what she thinks is going on, and what she recommends. If she thinks you need something other than physical therapy, she will say so.

You should leave knowing three things: what the problem appears to be, what the plan is, and what you are doing before the next visit.

What to wear

Clothing you can move in, and that gives access to the area being treated. Shorts for a knee, hip, or ankle. A tank top or a t-shirt you do not mind moving in for a shoulder, neck, or back. Training shoes rather than sandals.

What to bring

  • Photo ID and your insurance card, if you have one
  • Any imaging reports, operative notes, or a post-surgical protocol
  • A referral, if your physician gave you one or your plan requires one
  • A list of medications and relevant medical history
  • Water, and the brace, orthotic, or shoes you normally train in

Getting there

The practice is at 14080 Sullyfield Circle, Suite E & F, Chantilly, VA 20151, inside Cardinal CrossFit, with parking directly outside the suite. Arrive a few minutes early for a first visit so paperwork does not eat into your appointment. Directions and map.

The practical parts

Paperwork, payment, and policies

These details are confirmed directly with the practice when you book, so you get an answer that matches your plan and your situation rather than a generic one.

Forms and intake

Intake paperwork is handled through the secure booking and records portal. You will receive whatever is needed after you book, so you can complete it before you arrive.

Payment and insurance

The initial consult is free. Precision Performance Physio is an out-of-network cash practice — you stay with the same physical therapist every visit, with more individualized care and none of the constraints of insurance-based settings. Some plans include out-of-network benefits; on request, we’ll provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance provider. Rates and accepted payment methods are confirmed when you book.

Cancellations and rescheduling

Appointments are managed through the booking portal, where you can reschedule or cancel. The current cancellation policy is provided with your booking confirmation.

Questions before you book?
