Accessibility Statement
What this website is built to do, where it falls short, and how to tell us if something is in your way.
Our commitment
Physical therapy is for people with a very wide range of physical circumstances, and a website that gets in the way of booking is a poor first impression. Precision Performance Physio aims to make this site usable with a keyboard, with a screen reader, with magnification, and with motion reduced.
Conformance target
This website targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That target has been applied deliberately rather than assumed, including the criteria introduced in version 2.2:
- Focus not obscured. The sticky header and the mobile booking bar are offset in the page’s scroll behaviour so a keyboard-focused element is never hidden behind them.
- Target size. Interactive controls are at least 24 × 24 CSS pixels, and buttons and navigation links are considerably larger.
- Dragging movements. Nothing on this site requires a drag. There are no sliders and no swipe-only carousels.
- Consistent help. The booking link appears in the same place in the header and footer on every page.
What has been built in
- Semantic HTML with landmarks, one main heading per page, and a logical heading order.
- A skip-to-content link as the first focusable element.
- Visible, high-contrast focus indicators that are never removed.
- A mobile menu that traps focus while open, closes with the Escape key, returns focus to the button that opened it, and makes the rest of the page inert.
- Text and interface colours tested against their backgrounds for the contrast ratios WCAG requires. No information is conveyed by colour alone; the current page in the navigation is marked by weight and an underline as well as colour.
- Alternative text on images that describes what is in them, and empty alternative text on purely decorative graphics.
- Frequently asked questions built with native disclosure elements, so they work with a keyboard and a screen reader and remain usable if JavaScript fails.
- Links that open in a new tab announce that they do, in text a screen reader will read.
prefers-reduced-motionrespected throughout. With reduced motion enabled, transitions and scroll animation are switched off, not merely shortened.- Layouts that reflow without horizontal scrolling down to 320 pixels wide, and that survive text being enlarged to 200%.
- No autoplaying media, no scroll hijacking, and no content that moves on its own.
Known limitations
- The booking portal is a third-party service. Appointments are scheduled on a platform operated by SimplePractice, which the practice does not control and has not audited. If you have difficulty booking there, contact the practice and an appointment can be arranged another way.
- Google Maps. The map on the contact page is a third-party embed whose accessibility the practice does not control. The full address is given in plain text on the same page, along with written directions and a text link to Google Maps, so no information is available only inside the map.
- Automated testing has limits. This site has been checked with automated tooling and by keyboard, but it has not been tested with every combination of assistive technology and browser. If something does not work for you, that is useful information.
Assessment approach
Accessibility was evaluated during development using automated rule-based testing, manual keyboard-only navigation of every page and interactive component, contrast calculation for every foreground and background pairing in the design system, and layout testing from 320 pixels through wide desktop widths.
Tell us about a problem
If any part of this website prevents you from doing what you came to do, please say so. Use the options on the contact page, describe the page and what happened, and it will be looked at. If a barrier on this site is stopping you from booking, the practice will arrange your appointment directly instead.
A dedicated accessibility contact address will be published here before launch.
